First published in the Journal of Accountancy in 1998 for my accounting work and volunteerism with local nonprofits;

I have made it my life's purpose to support nonprofit organizations and socially conscious entrepreneurs and have now formed my own organization, Create Impact, dedicated to helping people and affecting the world in a positive way.

My name is Rachel Carlsen; 

I am many things to many people with no "one" thing taking precedence over the other AND with the MOST Important thing always being my Children or my Family.

I grew up in Redlands, California which is still and will always be near and dear to my heart. In my small family of (4), I had a reasonably quiet, middle-class childhood with all of the typical family quarrels and misdoings.

I have always been interested in numbers but not always interested in accounting...which ultimately makes me very good at it. I know that sounds strange so let me explain. Thinking outside-the-box in a truly strategic fashion is creative, which means you need a creative person for tax planning, which I am. With your interest and best practices in mind, I develop personalized tax strategies that suit the needs of the taxpayer, not the IRS.  I work with clients to help explore a different approach, which ultimately leads to the best solution for the client, whether that be simple tax preparation or negotiating an IRS installment agreement. I always put the client's best interest first.

Photography has been a passion of mine as long as I can remember. It is a sense of capturing a moment in time and making it last forever, the feeling, the energy, the laughter and the joy. This has been near and dear to my heart in remembering people that I've lost, friendships that I've gained or relationships that have changed my life and most especially, remembering all of those magical moments with my children.
